Visitor center offers place to rest By Bethania Palma, Staff Writer
AZUSA - A new visitor center opened at the entrance of the Angeles National Forest on Thursday, officials said. The San Gabriel Canyon Gateway Center offers a souvenir shop, rest rooms and a place to rest before proceeding into the forest, a city spokesman said.
"This is a place where you can go in and park, and get some information on animal life and natural fauna," said Azusa spokesman Martin Quiroz.
He explained passes are needed for hiking, biking, off-roading and swimming in the forest, which can be purchased at the center.
The center, located at 1950 N. San Gabriel Canyon Road, resulted from a collaboration between the city, the U.S. Forest Service, L.A. County and the Metropolitan Water District, officials said.
