Stop Illegal Off-Road Routes From Being Legalized!
Large areas in our four local forests are currently crossed by legal trails for motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. But some riders insist on breaking the law, creating their own trails that damage our pristine backcountry. The four national forests- Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres, and San Bernardino- are assessing these illegal trails and making decisions on whether or not to keep them open.
Currently it is the Cleveland National Forest which is considering legalizing some of these illegal routes. Please take action and tell the Forest Service not to reward illegal behavior by adding these unplanned trails to the system. Click here and encourage them to say NO to lawbreakers! Comments to the Forest Service are due by September 10th.
Illegally created motorcycle trails increase the risk of fire and disturbance to our backcountry.
Illegal trails increase the risk of fire, kill plants and wildlife, and interfere with the recreational activities of other visitors. If the Forest Service agrees to consider these additional trails, nearly 50 ORV trail additions will be made to our local mountains in Orange and San Diego Counties and it could open the door to many more.
Please take action (click here) and help us keep our forests wild!
Thanks for caring about the future of our forests!
