Study paints a bleak picture for community college students seeking to obtain degrees
Most degree-seeking community college students will eventually leave school empty-handed, a Cal State Sacramento study released Thursday said.
According to the university's Institute for Higher Education Leadership and Policy, about 25 percent of California students working toward two-year degrees or four-year university transfers reach their goals within six years.
The landscape is even bleaker for minority students. The study claims 15 percent of degree-seeking African Americans and 18 percent of Latinos graduate within the six-year time frame. Part-time students, prevalent in most community colleges, are four times less likely to graduate then their full-time peers.

If this is the case, maybe when the students are trying to decide whether to go to a community college or a university, the school disctrict should encourage them to go directly to the university to give them a better chance to finish. The school district should do everything possible to encourage the students to work towards goals that give them an opportunity to be successful in life.
