"Saving the San Gabriel River" on Tuesday, December 12th at 6 p.m. in the Glendora Public Library
The heavily used East and West Forks of the San Gabriel River in the Angeles National Forest north of Azusa have long left much to be desired in terms of visitor experience and water quality. The area lacks the basics -- enough toilets, trash cans, safe river access trails, educational materials.
What can be done to improve the situation?
As a first step, we asked a UCLA Landscape Architecture class to take a look at what could be done. The class will be presenting its findings at the Glendora Public Library in a community meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. You're cordially invited to attend this presentation.
For more information on the event and the UCLA group's report, "Saving The San Gabriel River: Our Forest, Our River, Our Backyard," contact Amy Bodek, project Outreach Coordinator at 562-221-1386.
The Forests Campaign will officially launch its own San Gabriel River work in 2007. We will incorporate the best ideas from the UCLA project into the new "hot spot" campaign we are developing. Watch for details on how you can help out next year.
See you in Glendora on Dec. 12th!
Cheers,
Bill, John and Juana
