Azusa sees second bear in a week AZUSA - For the second time in a week, residents in Azusa were visited by bears, police said Wednesday. Early Wednesday, some residents sitting in back yard of their Turning Leaf Way home learned what they thought was a cat was really a bear, police said. They threw several rocks at a tree and saw a large bear walk from behind the block wall and stop at their wrought iron fence behind their residence, Azusa police Sgt. Bruce Badoni said. The bear looked at them briefly and then lumbered eastbound. Officers found bear tracks in the street east of the residence that continued toward the canyon area, he said. The tracks appeared to be from a bear much larger than the one seen earlier in the week, Badoni said. On Monday, a bear roamed the 1500 block of Nob Hill Drive for an hour before going back to the forest. Police, San Gabriel Valley Animal Control and the state Department of Fish and Game helped lead it back into the hills. Residents in the hillside area are encouraged to use caution. www.sgvtribune.com/news/ci_4129134
