AZUSA - The city will spend $150,000 for an attorney in a case filed by a police officer claiming his civil rights as president of the Azusa Police Officers Association were violated.
Officer Peter Hoh said he was retaliated against because of participating in pro-union activities including a protest at the corner of Azusa Avenue and First Street in 2004.
A status quo contract was reached for the Aug. 1 2004-July 31, 2005 contract, which meant officers continued receiving 4percent to 7percent raises.
Former police Chief King Davis, Chief Bob Garcia and Cathy Hanson, director of human resources, are each being sued along with the city.
