Part of the proposed project on the golf course includes a $10-million foundation to benefit Glendora organizations, three parks on 10 acres, restrooms, access to Wildwood Canyon, which has been off limits since NJD purchased the property in 1999, and a green belt and trail system.
Scott said one-half of 1 percent of the resale price would be earmarked for the foundation. The 100 hillside homes, each about 4,000 square feet, could be priced between $2.5 million and $3 million. Construction would begin in late 2007. If voters approve the 338-home plan, construction would begin in late 2008, after the golf course is relocated.
Of the 380 ballots returned, 61 percent voted in favor of the swap, officials said. In all, 431 ballots were mailed to members.
NJD Ltd. owns the property known as Canyon Oaks, which is half in Glendora and half in San Dimas.
The Texas-based developer wanted to trade the 400 acres where it considered building about 100 multimillion-dollar homes for the 108-acre, 50- year-old golf course, where it proposes to build 338 less- expensive houses.
The developer must gather signatures from 15 percent of the 30,000 registered voters in order to get the initiative on November's ballot.
