Gold Line Extension Switches to Fast TrackAs part of a massive transportation funding bill, Congress deemed the Foothill Extension a high-priority project and earmarked $21 million to kick off some initial construction. Tucked into the same legislation, signed this month by President Bush, is special language that would make the project eligible for additional funding.

Gold Line board revamp plan picking up supportThe proposal calls for expanding the board to seven members, with five of the seats going to the cities along the Arcadia-to-Montclair extension and two seats being reserved for the MTA.

MTA OKs plan to alter Gold Line governanceunanimously approved a plan to restructure the rail board overseeing the project. The final composition would be similar to what Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard had proposed. The one victim in the deal would be South Pasadena, which currently has a seat but would relegated to ex officio status. South Pasadena Councilman Mike Ten blamed fellow Councilman David Margrave for the city's loss, saying Margrave has pushed a personal agenda that has made many officials uncomfortable.
