APU & City 20 Year Plan-tentative agreement on the college's 20-year plan to expand the APU campus -tax itself 6 percent of its light and water charges to cover financial costs to city coffers. - development agreement goes to the Azusa Planning Commission on Aug. 24 - plans to spend $500 million on a growth plan that could add eight buildings, three parking structures, a dozen classrooms and dorms and eventually a performing arts center -The Azusa City Council is expected to vote on the issue Sept. 6 _________________________ APU is an important asset to Azusa. Imagine what the city would be like without it. _________ Our city should be making plans to build a university business center next to the University to create a synergy of building new businesses in the local area and use the educational resources of APU's staff and students to help bring a lot more high paying jobs to the area. Instead of building townhomes in the Foothill Shopping Center, have they considered building a professional business center behind the stores? I think that would benefit the city more than more townhomes. Azusa has a lot of industrial businesses. I think that it is time for it to get professional offices, and buildings that encourage higher paying jobs, such as a high tech center. Monrovia was able to get high tech businesses to come into their city. I would like to see Azusa do the same. _____
