You have to have it like that so people that don't belong here can't say that they didn't know. Do you want the homeless people who are camping by the river to use the spa to bath in? That idea is gross just thinking about it. One of them got into the lodge restroom and caused the toilet to be plugged up. We need to bring this problem to the attention of either our board or Azusa p.d.

Neel, I tend to agree with you. I think we've got enough "no tresspassing" signs. I would say, certainly we should not post any more than we have. They are ugly when you put them against the beautiful wooden bridge. It's unfortunate that we have to post them, but we do. I don't think folks just walking or driving in to our community actually realize it's private property.

I can understand the need to post private property and no trespassing signs, as brought up at Tuesday’s monthly association meeting, and the comment that Azusa PD cannot remove or arrest (I don’t recall the exact comment) an uninvited guest without any signs being posted. However, I would hope and believe that there is a better way to accomplish it without posting so many signs and ruining what was once a beautiful entryway.
As a comparison, when the proposal to implement no overnight parking was discussed at the meeting, one item mentioned was that we need to post the no overnight parking sign only at each entrance of the community. No signs are needed inside the community to tow an offending vehicle away. My logic is probably incorrect, but what I’m interpreting is that we need two signs to tow an illegally parked vehicle, but we need 11 – 14 signs just at one entrance (I can’t remember the count) to remove an uninvited guest.
The entryway, as it was, provided the sense that our community had a rustic feel, or country charm, or neighborly appearance, or all of those feelings in one community. That is, the first impression of our community. With our community being located around a mountain bend, combined with the entryway, our community entrance had the feeling of entering into an idyllic place.
Now, my reaction, every time I pass through our gates, are the words, lockdown, bunker mentality, unsafe, entering an industrial area, and KEEP OUT! Some reading my opinion may counter that the signs are there to KEEP OUT those uninvited guests. I respect that view and understand some form of notice and warning is necessary, before engaging our local law enforcement.
There just has to be a better way of accomplishing it, without turning our bridge (and entryway) into the equivalent of one giant no trespassing sign. Or maybe I fooled myself into believing I was living outside of the city and in an idyllic place.
I am looking forward to future association meetings, when topics of adding spike strips, barrier arms, and a guard post at the entryway are discussed.

I agree totally. I'm sure that we could get away with less! I think if someone was to go into someone elses yard outside of the cove, with no signs posted, the p.d. would have grounds to arrest! What the hell is the difference? Have 6 signs on the bridge, 5 in the grassy area, you think we could get away without the 6 in court? That's bull. And everytime the board decides to do something like that, do we have no say? It's like the attitude was " well the p.d. suggested that many, that's what your stuck with, live with it!" I'd rather let the guy walk if all he's doing is hanging out than to look at those crappy signs!

Well folks, maybe it is time to think about changing our board members. Most of them were the first group of buyers here. Maybe they feel like since they have been here the longest that what they say goes. Maybe it is time to show them the door. Watch when the next election comes up and run for the board.
