What was going on yesterday just south of our bridge on the river? There were three police cars and they had yellow tape....Any ideas?

There was a suicide, A trouble man hung himself from a tree. No evidence of foul play.

Were the police cars and tape you saw there in the evening? If so, I believe what I saw was a sobriety check point set up by the police. I would imagine standard procedure for the police to do this occasionally at the entrance/exit points to popular get-aways like the San Gabriel forest.

It was not a police sobriety check point I also saw the tape and there was a moblie police lab there with lights. I spoke to the Azusa PD. I asked if there was anything we should be concerned about? He said no, the officer told me there was a suicide, as I posted above

Speaking of sobriety checks.... My wife was pulled over a few weeks ago on Sierra Madre near Azusa Greens. They conducted an on the spot smog check on her vehicle. Took about 20 minutes and made her late to work.

An officer would not (or should not) provide details on arrests or events unless you were specifically impacted or involved in some way.

Bill, I have no reason to lie. It was clear that there was an investigation and there was possibly a body found. I saw a policeman who was patrolling the neighborhood the next day. I asked him if there was anything we should be concerned about. He told me no and then explained why. I was very relieved, as shocking as the news was, that no one was in danger. As to why he went into detail I have no idea, since there are a few policeman on my street maybe he thought I was police officer also. Regardless, these are the facts presented to me I felt like me others would be relieved to know this information. If you doubt him then call A.P.D.

How could they do an on the spot smog test? A special van? Also why? When we do registration we have to do smog. What agency, Azusa PD? I would file a complaint. This is stupid and a waste of resouces!!!!!!!!
