It seems there have been a lot of unleashed, wandering dogs over the last few weeks.
While walking my two dogs today and yesterday morning, I've encountered stray dogs. Two days in a row! Unfortunately, a fight started on Tuesday morning when a lone dog aggresively ran up to my female dog (who is very protective). Even though it was brief, it was SCARY and no one was around to help me break it up. The other dog ran off, and I have no idea who it's owner is.
I know it's an accident when the dogs get out, but please keep an eye out for them. It's not fun to head out for a morning walk and wonder if a dog will be waiting around the corner.
THANK YOU.

These very well could be stray dogs you are coming across, rather than dogs released by Mountain Cove owners.
Just a couple days ago, I was out at about 6AM walking my dogs along the paved asphalt trail in front of the river (between the bridges), and I swear there was a PACK of eight wild dogs just on the other side of the river. It was amazing. These were NOT coyotes, as they were all solid black and I have not heard of coyotes with such coloring.
One of my dogs was sufficiently scared to pull me home, as he wanted no part of these dogs, even though they were on the opposite side of the river. One of them stood atop a rock and barked at us, while the others mostly ignored us.
Remember, we are living in the mountains, and there is still some remaining wildlife in the area, despite our encroachment. Personally, I will not walk on the trail after dark, although I did so, without incident, with a flashlight for the first couple months when I moved here a couple years ago.

I agree. My dog whom I have leashed at all times has been attacked by neighborhood dogs - yes and every time the owner was present and knows they have an agressive dog and let's them run off leash. WHY would you allow your dog to run off leash when you know it is agressive. One woman actually told me her dog attacks others often but it was ok because her dog has small teeth!!!! Please people have some consideration for others and keep your untrustworthy pooches on a leash where they belong!

It is absolutely critical that folks walking dogs carry strong pepper spray to protect your beloved pet. This type of unprovoked animcal attack happens all the time. A big stick is also helpful, if you care about protecting your own. Wild animals or unrestrained aggressive domestic dogs can tear your pet right out of your arms- so be prepared!!!!! Remember the coyotes come out after dusk, so be especially aware at that time! Good pepper spray can be bought at Turner's Outdoorsman 357 N. Azusa Ave. West Covina, Ca. 91791 626-858-8948
