Hello Neighbors,
I have been thinking about the election a lot lately and have decided that I really don’t care if Chagnon or Macias wins. I think that either of them would make an excellent Mayor. However, I have decided that I’m going to vote for the candidate that people make the nastiest comments about, because neither of them deserve it. They both care about Azusa and will make decisions based on what is best for the city. However, I would rather not have the nasty supporters win. And I ask other residents to consider doing the same. So if you people keep making your nasty comments you’re just going to hurt your cause.
As for the city council member seats, I feel like Rocha has a huge amount of support all around the city and there is probably not a chance that he could lose. And if Chagnon does win as Mayor, the third highest number of votes could get her seat. So instead of voting for Rocha, whom I’m a huge fan of, I’m considering voting for Donnelson and Carillo. I have not made a final decison on this yet.

Come on, let's get real here. Let's elect Macias for mayor, Chagnon will remain, with Rocha and Donalson to complete the puzzle. Everyone will then be happy!

Maybe everyone will not be happy if someone like Macias is around and not willing to go along with the nonsense that has taken place, such as the scandalous real estate deal. Perhaps Macias would upset the apple cart???

Who is making the nastiest comments...Let's see, that is a hard one. The tribune has endorsed Chagnon and they have made some remarks about macias which are not only false but misleading. And the gun club has sent out 2 mailers defaming Macias, Rocha,Donnelson, and Carrillo. Outside of that I see a lot of comments on this board with similar degrees of nastiness on both sides. It's impossible to vote on that premise. you really need to consider what the best scenario would be for the city. If Macias wins we still keep Chagnon and your idea about voting for Donnelson and Carrillo sounds like a good one to me.

Choosing between Donnellson and Carillo is tough. But imagine what would happen if someone like Hanks (the one who's platform says that the council should actively promote religion) got through because Donnellson & Carillo cancelled out eachothers' votes! Scary possibilities there.

If you look at Hanks qualifications, they are leaps and bounds above Carillo's. Carillo seems to be the "golden boy" for some special interests (they probably see someone that once he gets in, he may remain in for 20 years). Who cares about Hanks personal religous beliefs. It is not as if he can single-handedly overturn Roe v. Wade or allow prayer in Azusa schools! If anything, I would fear Hanks health more than anything else. Although I have never seen him in person, from his billboards he does have the appearance of what a cardiologist may refer to as a "walking time bomb." Carillo just does not seem all that charismatic to me. I have no idea of the charisma of the other candidates, but at least they seem to have solid qualifications. As far as religion goes, our neighboring city, Covina, says a prayer before council meetings. Big deal, it does nobody any harm, whatsoever.

Oh, I don't care about his personal religious beliefs. I have my own too. It's just that I (like most people) don't appreciate my government trying to tell me how to practice it. Hanks's platform outright says (many times) that he wants to do that.
