NOTICE: Most of you, I'm sure, have seen an old white vehicle sitting outside the gates. If you see it, please call the Azusa Police Department at 626-812-3200. The car does not belong to a Mountain Cove resident. It belongs to a homeless person who has set up camp at the river. I'm very sorry that the person is homeless, but we need to make sure that our neighbors and family are safe. This person needs to go to a shelter or find someone that will take this person in.

So, we all move into an exclusive gated community, surrounded by the serenity of mountains, a river and starlit skies. Instead, we are treated to a confirmed homicide, a "weenie-wagger", stolen Valentines Day flowers, a possible "floater" in the swimming pool and now a homeless guy lurking just outside the gates. Has anybody yet seen the elderly lady seemingly suffering from dementia wandering by the river, picking flowers, and talking to herself or to others that are invisible to you and I. I must say, however, even with the gun wielding 90 year old Asian homicidal maniac, the weenie-wagger, the flower thief, the possible floater, the homeless guy and the demented lady, that I still love Mountain Cove and would not want to be anywhere else!

Lighten up a lttle bit! It started off sounding great but I think that youre putting way too much into this. Imean , you make our community sound like a ghetto slum or something, it could be alot worse! No matter where you live youre bound to run into some problems! I understand that you still love Mountain Cove , but don't make it sound so filthy and scary, please?! Lighten up!

Perhaps you should follow your own advice and do some ligtening up of your own. I find it humorous that, of all places, a GATED COMMUNITY, would suffer from all these "challenges." Yeah, that's it, we are homicidally challenged around here! Really, it is no big deal...learn how to laugh at yourself and you will enjoy life much more.

I phoned the non-emergency number of Azusa PD last night to request that they do something about the car. They told me that because the car sits on private property, unless the association calls to have it towed away, there's nothing they can do about it. Has anyone notified Alia? Driving in tonight, I stopped by the car and flashed a light in to see if anyone was there (the police said to call them IF someone was seen in the car). But the car had no one in it. I did notice a cell phone strapped to the sun visor on the driver's side. I'm surprised the police cannot do more, e.g. run the license plate. As unlikely it might be what if this person is wanted by the police? Anyone talk with Alia?

This guy is a homeless, if the association have the car impounded, he will have to pay around $150~$250 to get the car out! I think we should give him a chance, maybe by leaving a note? telling him that if he park here again, we will have his car impounded.
maybe that will work?

I agree, give the guy a break! He probably isn't even aware that he's on private property, so at least leave a note on the car and ask him to relocate it. Not all homeless people are bad, many are just down on their luck, have lost their jobs, etc. I doubt he's any threat to our community. Let's stop being so "uppity." No wonder many Azusa residents don't like us. Some of you seem to think you're better than anyone else because you live here in MC. We may be fortunate enough to have nicer homes than most people in Azusa, but that doesn't make us any better than they are.

Resident and Ms Resident, I am touched by your kindness. Would you mind if I parked in your driveway, and took the guest bedroom for awhile? Also, I would really appreciate it if you ordered a spare ATM in my name, even if it does only have a $300 per day daily limit...I am flexible. ;D

Ok I agree with the note idea, and I also agree with having some compassion, but let's face it, if he was living there when you were looking to buy and were told......yeah he is a homeless guy living on a property where you will be paying association dues but give the guy a break, you're no better than him!!! You would'nt be posting comments at Mountain Coves website! There are places he can go which coincdentally our tax dollars are paying for. He's probably looking at this like a camping excursion while he's a little outta luck! To say that I think I'm better because I enjoy a certain quality of life is rediculous! What if he is bad, than what? What if he's another child molestor? I feel bad for the people who bought the model homes!!! He has to go at all cost!

Dear MsResident,
Please stop bashing the residents. If you knew us, you would know that we are not uppity. If anyone else does not like us, it is probably because they don't know us and have not even an opportunity to understand what we go through in our daily lives. Or, they don't want to understand us. They just want to bash us because they see us fighting for things that they may not personally care about. We don't bash other people in Azusa and I would respectfully ask that if you hear other people bash us, that you kindly ask them to stop. We have issues and problems to deal with just like they do. We are just probably a little more vocal and organized in getting them solved. But don't bash us for trying to get something done about them.
We can't just let someone live by the river. A river where much of the water supply for the area comes from. People are not supposed to be down there in the first place. Where do you think he is going to the bathroom? And if you let one homeless person live down there, more will surely follow. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I just think it's kind of funny how we don't want others to think we are "uppity" but then go about doing and saying some very "uppity" things and postings like about the really expensive chocolate no average person can afford. We really need to get our identity together folks. If you don't want to be perceived as "uppity" then stop trying to sound so much so.

Will you people just listen to yourselves? Talk about snobs. I don't care where you live, you are going to run into "normal" everyday people and problems!
Have any of you ever been on South Lake Ave in Pasadena in the morning? I can't begin to count the homeless people.
If you wanted a Stepford Community, then you you sure picked the wrong place.....this is AZUSA!
The man in the white car is merely homeless, not homicidal!

Hello everyone!
Management has had the vehicle towed. The homeless person is a woman and has been notified by residents as well as the police that the vehicle would be towed if she continued to park it there again. She has called the tow company and requested that the car be released at no charge, because "She is down on her luck" The car will not be released at no charge.
Alia had contacted the A.P.D and had someone try and get her tempoary housing but she apparently refused assistance.
If she by some miracle comes up with the money to get her car back, and decides she is going to try her luck again, please cll Our Boyz Towing at (888)522-2699 and tell them you are a Mountain Cove Resident and you are reporting the white car is back. They will dispatch a truck to have it towed again.

Resident,
As someone else pointed out, assistance was reportedly offered to this woman, but refused.
As with many (most?) homeless, this woman is very likely mentally ill. So, for others to portray Mountain Cove residents as insensitve for not wanting a homeless woman camped outside their homes, I invite you to take this lady into your own home.
Personally, I am relieved to see that the car his been removed.

OK, from what I perceive reading your posts, you people at MC (probably not the majority, just those who make noise) don't like: homeless people, the downtown area, the school board, the city council, anything south of Foothill, the lack of upscale restaurants, dry cleaning establishments and grocery stores, Grinds, Nana's, and any other common establishment (oh, let's not forget the gun club). May I ask why any of you moved here?? None of you seems to be happy with anything in our town, so why are you here? As someone else said, if you want a Stepford town, go elsewhere! This is AZUSA, a proud city of proud, primarily middle-class working people. If we had as many complaints as you have, we'd have moved out long ago. We like our town just the way it is, please don't think that you can change it because the majority of us won't allow that to happen! I'm not bashing you folks at MC, just going on the complaints you continue to make. Is there anything about AZUSA that you do like? If so, please step up and be heard!

>>Is there anything about AZUSA that you do like? If so, please step up and be heard! Ummm...I LIKE MOUNTAIN COVE!!! ;D Other good things about Azusa... That Panaderia (bakery) by the Ranch Market is pretty tasty. The Stater Bros. shopping center is alright. I am thrilled to hear that Tops will soon be opening a location in Azusa. I like the 99 cent store and the fact that it is on the opposite side of Azusa. I like the fact that with the imminent election of Uriel Macias that Azusa will continue moving in the proper direction. I am thrilled that Azusa will soon undergo further gentrification with the building of the 1,200 home Montarra development (just imagine, 4 times as many residents as Mountain Cove, mostly thinking along the same lines). SIDENOTE: gen·tri·fi·ca·tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (jntr-f-kshn) n. The restoration and upgrading of deteriorated urban property by middle-class or affluent people, often resulting in displacement of lower-income people. I love the mountains that surround Mountain Cove and insulate us from the rest of the city...oh, and the moat doesn't hurt either! Is that enough of a list for you??? ;D

A few of the things that I like about Azusa:
I have met a lot of very nice people that live all over Azusa who also care about improving this city. The people who fight the changes are an outspoken minority. So "Azusa Resident", you can try to fight change all you want, your not going to stop it.
I like the changes that the city has been making to improve itself.
I love Mountain Cove. I love my neighbors I love the wildlife and beauty of nature.
I like the new extention of the bike trail and I'm glad that the city landscaped Azusa/San Gabriel, North of Sierra Madre.
I'm glad that Montarra is coming in.
I'm glad that there will be a new school coming into Azusa.
I'm looking forward to the changes that are scheduled to happen in the General Plan.
I'm looking forward to the Gold Line, Albertsons, and more stores coming in.
I'm looking forward to the new interpretive center that is going to be built, I think this year.
The city hall is a pretty nice looking building.
And most of the parks look like they are pretty good condition.
I like a couple of the restaurants in Azusa, including Tulipano's and Max's.
I shop at the Savon all of the time. I can't say that it is my favorite store, but I'm glad that it is there.
I like the Neighborhood Homework House and believe that they are making a real difference in this community.
I like almost everything North of Sierra Madre. I would say North of 9th Street, but there are a couple of the apartment buildings in between Azusa and San Gabriel BLVD that need to be redeveloped first.
Those are a few things on my list that I like about Azusa.
I'm glad that Azusa is improving and I'm looking forward to seeing it continue. It will mean a better quality of life for everyone in this city, with better schools, less crime, and more places to shop. People who fight the change will end up benefiting from the changes as well. They will probably end up just kicking themselves for trying to stop it in the first place. Azusa will become a city that we can ALL be proud of.
I think that we should ask the police where the highest crime area of the city is. My guess is it it probably some run down apartment building. And then we should see what can be done to encourage a developer to redevelop it. And then we should continue this all around the city, which would push the crime rate down, and make these areas less stressful places to live. Change can be a good thing when done properly! Don't fear change....that is a big part of what life is about.
