Hello,
I'm not that concerned with the Mayoral candidates. I personally like both of them. So I thought that I would create a post specifically about the City Council Member seats.
I received my ballot in the mail yesterday and I noticed that Donnelson does not have a statement in it. He must have no budget. I really liked him at the forum and would like to see him win. Does anyone know if he needs any help? I would be happy to contribute money to his campaign. From what I understand, this is the first time that he is running. He is one of the few new people running on for City Council that really understands the issues of the city. I would like to help his campaign somehow but I"m not sure how.

There is a growing number of us in the cove who support Donnelson. I am planning on doing a coffee or lunch for him soon. I will let everyone know when it is planned so anyone who would like to speak with him and help him out can come. I will update everyone soon!

Thank you for your post about my campaign, and the Sample Ballot. When I first got into the idea for running for City Council, I guess I was a bit naïve, about the dynamics of a local election, that as a voter, you don’t see. I talked to several people, including those that had been in local politics, and I ordered a small library over the internet, on the subject of running for your first election. Most all of the advice, was not to submit a candidate’s statement, that most people did not use that, to make their voting choice. The overall decision to not run a candidate’s statement was and was not about money. It costs $850.00 per candidate, to publish a candidate’s statement in the Sample Ballot, and you had to file the statement, at the time that you filed your nomination papers. We certainly could have afforded the $850.00, but would that be the best use of that money? In retrospect, and with as many candidates, as there are in the election, I probably would think differently. I ‘m probably mistaken, but if someone hasn’t formed an opinion on who to vote for, and they make their decision based on a ballot statement of 250 words or less, somewhat scares me. I decided, very early on, if I was going to run, it wasn’t going to be on the basis of “who could spend the most money, to buy the election”. I’m not going to plaster the city with hundreds and hundreds of campaign signs. I like to hope that the average voter doesn’t make his decision, by how many signs he sees for a particular candidate. I’m not going to mail out thousands of glossy mailings that give you, the voter, minimal information, but it sure looks impressive, to make your decision. We are mailing a very plain, straight forward, “just the facts”, flyer that will explain my positions, background, and civic involvement. We are making door to door visits, and some phone calls, but like most of you, I don’t really appreciate having to field one sided “vote for me” phone calls, interrupting my dinner, or time with my family. Again I hope that the decision who to vote for is made on something other than a 3 to 5 minute phone call. Most all donations are greatly appreciated, and will be wisely used by my campaign, no smoke and mirrors, no fluff, just common sense, get the job done ideas and programs. If I get elected, that is the same attitude that I will use to view city expenses. If I am fortunate enough to be elected, I intend to use any excess campaign funds, and the monthly stipend to help fund those individuals and organizations, that approach the City Council, looking for some assistance for camp, educational travel, or special needs. Please refer to our website; www.bobdonnelson.com for more information on donations, yard signs, and volunteering, along with more campaign information. Please feel free to contact me at; info@bobdonnelson.com, or call me at 626-334-6641 after 6pm. Please talk to all of your family, friends and neighbors, to get out the vote on March 8th. I deeply appreciate all of the support that I have been given, and truly believe that together, we, as residents of Azusa, can join together to move our city forward, to be the town of our dreams. Please pardon me for taking so much time and space, I sometimes let my passions run away with me.

As promised, some of my neighbors and I are getting together to host a reception for incumbent city council member Joe Rocha, and city council candidate Bob Donnelson, This will take place on Sunday February 27th at 1:30 P.M. at the MC Lodge. This will be an informal opportunity to get to know a couple of the candidates and to ask any questions you might have. Refreshments will be served. Also, since there have been so many requests for another MC forum we are also considering the possibility of inviting our Mayoral candidates for another more in-depth debate right after the reception for Rocha and Donnelson. This part, however is still in the planning stages as the Mayoral candidates still need to be contacted. Hope all will attend! ;D

Bob Donnellson made a formal statement in response to the gun club situation to the Azusa online web site......... I can't figure out how to get the address of the exact page, but if you go here, you'll see 'Donnellson responds to gun club' and just click on that too: newazusa.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=local
