Why is the front gate open all the time? If it needs fixing, it takes the Association way too long......do they do anything but take our money???

Hello,
I have not noticed the gate staying open. However, it is open for a while after someone goes through. You may just be going through during times when people just went through prior to you.
As for the Association taking your money. We, the homeowners, are the Association. If you feel that money is being wasted, speak up at the association meetings. I personally feel that the money is not being wasted and that the association does a pretty good job at managing the funds, considering how costly it must be to take care of a development of this size and seeing what association fees in other developments are like.

No...it IS open all the time. Look carefully.
I think it might have to do with a police thing...because I noticed that after the murder that took place, the gate staying open for about a week before it was fixed.

It's definitely a Euclid Mgmt. lack of attention to details. Alia does her drive by inspections on wed. How about the keypad being out of service more often than not! Why does it take so long to to take care of that problem???

I agree!!
Half the time, the keypad looks like it's in Japanese.....and it's inconvenient for the guests because they can't call. And there's no cell phone reception here and it's looks like there's never gonna be any.
Then people get upset when we give the code out.

The Front Gate is staying open all the time!
We thought it was kept open for the holidays too, but it stays open all the time.
There are alot of non residents comming in and driving around, I caught a couple of them the other night parked in front of our house talking, and I asked the polietly if they were not residence to please leave, and they did.
Also, there has been a beat up pick up truck driving around during the early am of trash day going through people's trash for cans, recycleable items. My wife tried to chase them down and get a plate number but she could not catch them in time.
We are paying way too much association money for an automatic gate and keypad system that really sucks!
Also, the back gate, there are people who drive down the mountain and when I am exiting, they stop, then try to drive in, I had to get out one time and actually stop the driver and ask what his business was going through an exit gate and almost hitting my car. He said that he wanted to see the community. He did not know anyone who lived there.
I asked him to understand that this is a private community and that is why we have the gates etc. He did not understand nor care, and said a couple of nasty words, but did turn around and leave when he saw I was writing down his license number..
I am going to attend the next association meeting and bring this up as an action item that needs to be addressed. BTW, when is the next association meeting?
Thanks, Chris Rock Springs Way

This gate has had problems since day one. The keypad We've been here 2 yrs. It seems as though the programming doesnt last but a day or 2. If it needs replacement parts, so be it. Euclid should get up off their rear ends, fire the company who is maintaining the gate currently, and hire one who is competent. I cannot understand why this gate has so many problems if it is a brand new system. We should also be real careful on how we confront anyone who may not live here. For one thing they just may be up to no good, and will not allow someone to get in their way or turn them in. I had one guy one night try to stop me from coming in and I live here. It got confontational and someone could have gotten hurt. No one here is a paid security guard through Euclid. Nothing in Mountain Cove is worth getting hurt or killed over. I don't confront anyone, I call the cops!

If the gate persists in being unoperable, may I suggest a reduction in our association fees?
I have many friends in gated communities and it is almost impossible to get into those communities uninvited because the gates seem to always be working.
Also-with the rain, you are supposed to show your Mtn Cove Pass or liscence showing you live here to get past the ranger station, but my daughters friend was allowed in. She just SAID she lived here.
I give up.

The gate is open because it keeps scrambling. The Board approved replacing the phone system at the last meeting. The new system has been ordered and it should take two and a half weeks to replace it. This includes ordering the system, installation and programming all the names.
I understand the thought in keeping it open was, if everyone just complains on this message board (that Management does not read) and doesn't call in the problem it could be at least a week before Alia does her inspection and checks the gate. Which by the way she does every Wednesday.

How about looking into a guard or guard shack of some kind at some point? The other day we were leaving home and saw an old small toyota with about 5 male hispanics riding around and around looking very suspicious. We followed them for a while but we had to leave so we got a partial plate and called the police. It looked like they were casing the neighborhood. I know we would be willing to pay a reasonable amount to increase our safety here. How about you guys?

Since the board voted to replace the phone system, at the gate, does that mean, we, as members of the association are going to have to PAY for that new board? I would think, since we have had problems with it from the beginning, the responsibility should be on either Standard Pacific, or the manufacture of the original system. Could a board member that reads this board, Please answer this ?

Does anyone know what is up with our front gate? It has stayed open for more than 2 weeks now. It seems like whenever it gets fixed, it's fixed for a few days then it breaks down again and stays open for a few weeks before it is fixed again.

The parts for the gate were shipped to the wrong city and so the company who is doing the installation had to put a trace on them and have them reshipped. The rain caused an additional delay for installing but they are now back on track and the new system should be completed in about two weeks.

The code will stay the same but you will have to press the key symbol twice before the four digit code. Only the main code remains in place. If you previously had a four digit code different from the main one, you have to contact Alia and request a new code. The new system allows them to track who owns the code, that way if a resident moves the code can be removed.

What ever it takes, I hope someone gets that gate fixed before some freak comes in and attacks someone. We don't need another murder, this time by a stranger!

Ed,
The gate has already been fixed. Your obviously just here to cause trouble. Try going somewhere where you are wanted.

I left at 1PM (Friday 2/4) and the gate was open. I came home at 230P and it was still open.
I did see it fixed on Tuesday, but it seems to be stuck open once again.
Maybe I'm just uniformed. Is it the policy for the gate to stay open during the day? Maybe tonight it will be closed.
I like the idea of a gated community for safety purposes, but I don't feel safe when it's always open. I am not trying to cause trouble. I am just trying to understand... Are we the first homes Standard Pacific / Euclid Mangement ever used a gate for?
I find that hard to believe but we seem to always have this problem. If anyone is out there who lives in another gated community, is this a problem with you too?

I'm not sure how the new gate works, but I know of another gated community in Rancho Cucamonga (Victoria something near the 15 Fwy) that works like this....
Instead of an universal gate code, the code to enter is the resident's last four digits of their phone number. This way, they can keep track who enters via which resident.
And....no, I never see the gate stay open for days at a time.

Every time I have been through it today, it was closed when I got there. You just may have gotten to the gate just before someone else went through.

I think you are right. It's been closed lately. Someone did mention that during the weekdays, until all homes have been landscaped, it will be open for contractors.
That's probably what I saw.
Thanks

You can call Anaheim Doors and they will mail one to you for about $40. Or you might try any door company, but remember to take your existing remote so they can show you how to program it.

Pioneer doors in covina, off San Bernardino Rd. and Azusa Ave. I bought one for $34.95 and you can very easily program it yourself!
