Help! Has anyone seen our grey and white kitten? We love him dearly and we haven't seen him since Saturday, the 9th. We're hoping the fox that's been skulking through our yard at night didn't get him. If you've seen him since then, please call us at 969-0051 Thank you, The Blackwells

Dear Margaret.
I haven't seen your kitten but will keep a good look out for you.
We lost our adult cat last February, so I know how you feel.
How large was he/she and what's her name?

YOU SHOULD PUT A 4 TO 6 INCH PIPE IN YOUR YARD SO THAT YOUR CAT HAS A SAFE PLACE TO HIDE

Ask any vet: cats should be kept indoors, period.
Contrary to popular belief (or "excuse"), you are not "depriving" your cat of anything by doing so. You are in fact ensuring their safety from wildlife and preventing them from acquiring diseases that compromise their health. An indoor cat on average lives much, MUCH longer than a cat allowed outdoors.
There are also products out there to make keeping a cat indoors a lot easier (talking about litter here): Litter Maid (www.LitterMaid.com) and - the Cadillac of automated litter boxes (which we own) - the Litter Robot (www.Litter-Robot.com). It's more expensive, but well worth the extra bucks.
Please, please - for their safety and well being - keep your cats strictly indoors. If you need to re-train them, ask your vet for advice, get information from PetSmart or PetCo, or visit websites such as Petplace.com.
It does take extra effort, yes. But this is your pet and should be considered part of your family. Don't assume they should be ok to "fend for themselves." Give your cats as much love and the best care possible by having them spayed/neutered and keeping them exclusively indoors.

I agree with "cat lover", I have heard several stories of missing cats that have never been seen again in Mountain Cove. Especially when you let them out at night. I think that the coyotees like to eat them.
