I'm glad that they are finally going to develop that property. However, I think that we should make the slogan of Azusa:
"Azusa, land of drug stores, mexican food, and liquor stores."
It would be nice if the city would come up with a plan to work towads an image of the city that they would like it to become.
Santa Monica is working to become a sustainable city. A lofty goal that they work on.
Costa Mesa already has South Coast Plaza. They are working on expaning their music and arts programs.
I think that it might be a good idea to discuss what kind of city we would like the city of Azusa to become.
I personally would rather it not look like every other city. I enjoy creativity and I would love it if Azusa would encourage and create a plan to encourage creative change.
With the proximity to the forest, the canyon, the river, the bike trails, it should start with these and move with creative ideas from there.
The city keeps talking about developing the downtown. I would like to see that happen. What do you guys think of the idea of extending the bike trail Up Azusa and down San Gabriel to encourage more trips to the downtown by cyclists? One of the benefits of this would be less cars parked on the main streets in the residential area, which would make it look nicer.

How about building canals along the river after the quarry is filled back in? We could travel on gondollas.
