Forest tour scheduled Saturday
ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- The U.S. Forest Service will have its monthly forest tour Saturday.
This month the tour will be from Rincon to the Mount Baldy Visitor Center. The tour will travel 26 miles along Glendora Ridge Road, making stops along the way talking about the flora and fauna of the area.
At the Mount Baldy Visitor Center, there will be a dedication ceremony of the Native American Village by the Gabriellino/Tongva Tribal Council, which will start at noon.
The tour will start at 9 a.m. and should arrive at the Mount Baldy Visitor Center by noon for the ceremony. Meet at the San Gabriel Canyon Environmental Education Center, which is .07 mile past the East Fork Bridge on Highway 39 above Azusa. The cost is $5 per person.
Visitors should bring water, lunch, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, binoculars and cameras. Dress in layers for the weather. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and you have a full tank of gas.
