I see that there are some pretty big plans to redevelop downtown Covina. I have not seen any articles on it. But see That they plan on tearing down buildings on both sides of the street and building new retail on the bottom level and housing on the top. They want an "old town pasadena' feel.
I wish that we could come up with a good marketing plan in Azusa. We really need to differentiate ourselves from other cities.
One idea that I think might help is if the city could come up with incentives to artists. Being next to the forest, what a great place it would be to come to find all types of art: whether it is painting, photography, sculpture, music, food as an art form, etc. I know that Ireland offered special tax benefits to artists and it has really helped them develop...it took a long time for it to get going..but they have something that is sustainable now. Something that encourages creativity and independent thought, as well as entertaining and a fun place to come to.
