I see the fencing going up there. What are the plans for that location? Is that for the Gold Line Extension?
It is nice to see one less liquor store in the downtown.
Azusa avenue still looks like Liquor store ally. But it is good to see at least one down.

It's for a proposed grocery store, and various smaller shops & restaurants. The land will extend two blocks to Dalton Avenue, and will be designed to look like it's "part of" Target, even though Azusa Ave will go between them. The Gold Line station will be just south of the tracks.
The big three grocery stores are all apparently interested in the site, being right across from Target. I hope it's Vons or Ralph's, because Albertson's isn't in as good shape financially. Stater's is also interested ... but I hope it does NOT go to them because then Azusa will have a whole new problem trying to get the current Stater store re-occupied. Plus we just need a better variety here.
The same land developer for this will also have proposals for Block 36 (Azusa & Foothill), and the areas surrounding City Hall... they're also planning to redevelop the area of San Gabriel Ave. from Foothill to 6th St, where Blockbuster is currently. This is the same developer who did Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, so if what they do here is of that same quality, we're in pretty good hands.
