Azusa siren to be tested San Gabriel Valley Tribune AZUSA - The siren located near Highway 39 at the mouth of the canyon leading to the Angeles National Forest will be tested from 6:30 to 7 p.m. today. The testing will be conducted by the Azusa Amateur Radio Communication Emergency Services, a ham radio volunteer group trained in emergency management and disaster response. The volunteer group, under the direction of Olga Bruno, emergency services coordinator for the city of Azusa, provides radio equipment and communications support to the city during disasters. The group tests the siren twice a year, to check the siren's radio frequency connection to the police station and the status of the equipment in the communications center. Residents will hear the siren wailing and see several people reporting on volume control and area of saturation. Testing the siren in the evening, on a weekday, also helps residents become familiar with this community early warning system, officials said. Bruno said residents should not call 9-1-1 to ask about the siren. An emergency information line, (626) 812-5060, has been established in the emergency operations center to provide information about disasters. - From staff reports www.sgvtribune.com/news/ci_3743197

It sounded perfect for what it is to do when we need it. Actually, maybe it should be a tad louder in the event we had a fairly strong wind blowing down from the canyon.
