Vulcan, which maintains local operations in Irwindale and Azusa, has joined the California Climate Action Registry, a coalition of businesses and environmental leaders committed to addressing climate change.
As a member of the voluntary program, Vulcan Materials' Western Division will annually track, report and certify all greenhouse emissions produced by its California operations.
"We wanted to be proactive with this," said Angela Driscoll, Vulcan's government affairs manager. "This is part of our social responsibility."
Registry President Diane Wittenberg said Vulcan "has built a strong reputation as a leader in environmental stewardship."
"We appreciate that Vulcan is the first aggregates producer in the state to join the California Climate Registry and we applaud Vulcan for their dedication to the environment," she said.
