Last nights meeting was a great turnout. It was good to see so many people care about the city and school district. I met some new neighbors and learned a lot about the major imporvements that the city and school district are making. It is very encouraging to hear these things.
They estimate that block 37 will be completed around March which means that the new Starbucks should be open soon! Maybe we should have a big crowd from Mountain Cove go down to celebrate when it opens.
The groundbreaking for the Interpretive Center (where the forest information booth is) is scheduled for this Spring.
The plans for the El Encanto property are to turn it into a Wilderness Park.
The city plans to eventually get as much as 20% of its power from wind power.
The plans for the Foothill Center include making it an entertainment center with restaurants and townhomes in the back. New townhome projects will be on both the East and West side of the street on Azusa Avenue, South of the freeway.
Sierra Madre will be closed around June or July for approximately 4 months. They will trying to reopen it before the new school year begins.
These are just a couple of the issues that were discussed. It was very king of our Mayor and Superintendent to take the time to speak with us.

I need to get more involved. I'm sorry that I missed it. I promise to make the next meeting.

The Mayor also mentioned that artifacts were found on the North side of the nursery property. They estimate them to be around 3000 years old.
