Conservationists seeking El EncantoThe Watershed Conservation Authority is poised to vote today to enter into negotiations on 39 acres owned by Azusa Crown Inc., on which the former El Encanto restaurant sits at the base of the Angeles National Forest. Azusa already owns 1.8 acres across the river. Conservationists would also like to buy 9.7 acres north of the river owned by Chuck and Mary Gatti, who may be interested in selling, Faustinos said. Another 26 acres is owned by Joseph Tong, who wants to build a seminary on the site. Faustinos does not think this would be allowed because the land is a conservation easement.
