The city has asked every major market to open a store in the Foothill Center and they have all turned them down. It looks like we are not going to get a market in Azusa. The developer of the Foothill Center is talking about keeping the current theater and upgrading it. In addition, stores would be torn down on the property and redeveloped, with the exception of the 99 cent only store, savon, ross, and burger king, because of the long term lease agreements the land owner has them on.

There was a post several months back on Azusa Online boards about this very thing probably happening. It sounds like a good direction for it to me. Here, I found it: postI don't mind so much about the no grocery store. I honestly think people and the politics were getting much too hung up on it, and I actually like the Albertsons in Glendora. Driving there or to other stores doesn't seem to be handicapping us.
