I would like to see a new modern post office with adequate parking. Is there a place that would make a good location for this?

Maybe a small satillite station could be built when the Rosedale is built. Glendora has two zip codes for their city. We (Azusa) should look into doing the same. I think a good border for the zip codes would be using Sierra Madre. All that are south of it would have one zip code and all that are north of it would have another.

why and why Sierra Madre

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm not sure what the logic is behind the idea of wanting two zip codes. Say the postal service doesn't think it's necessary (and so far it looks that way), why would a resident think it's important? Why would the idea even come to mind? As a way to make themselves feel exclusive or divided from the rest of the city? Sorry, but honestly, I can't see why else someone would just have that ''idea''.
Especially when you said that Sierra Madre should be the border street. Now that doesn't seem very ''practical.'' It just sounds like someone's idea of, ''oh I live in North-North Azusa, Azusa Canyon, the foothills of Azusa, you know, 91703.'' Hey, newsflash from someone who lives here but also has a life that exists outside of the city's bubble: the rest of greater Los Angeles's perception is that I live in Azusa. They don't care what my zip code is, or what the private given name of my community is. Why should I either?
We need to be taking steps to better unify with the community, not come up with various ways to label ourselves differently. If there were a logical reason, and perhaps if Foothill Blvd. or something near to it were the dividing line (that's a lot more practical), it would be a different story. But trying to push for a new zip code for those living above Sierra Madre - - just because? That's going to come off as really pretentious or as some lame attempt to assert social superiority. I feel no need to do that and I want no part of any such idea coming out of Mountain Cove. I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I knew and I accepted I was buying a house in the city of Azusa, period.

It is only an idea to use Sierra Madre as a border. If you feel Foothill would be better then that will work too. No need to get all riled up over a border in the zip code. We are not trying to be better than anyone. The city is growing and we need to change with it. People who live in Glendora don't seem to fuss about having two zip codes. Like I said, it is only a suggestion ; let's not make a Hatfield and McCoy's fued out of this.

Glendora only recently expanded to two zip codes, not too long before Mountain Cove broke ground and believe me it did become a big deal at the time. But as stated, why would the average citizen be worrying about that apart from the post office itself? For instance, I don't ponder about the phone company running out of numbers and start calling for an area code split. Postal numerical organization isn't usually high on people's to-do lists. There's no reason to still be talking about where to put a boundary. There are better things to exert energy on here than a campaign for a new zip code.

Yes - can we talk about REAL items that are of a concern at least to me, a homeowner in Mtn. Cove: 1) Why do some many properties within the Cove have incomplete landscaping? 2) Are these folks being fined and if so, shouldn't the money be shared by the homeowners that have complied with this requirement? Wake up - this is a property value issue! 3) Speaking of property values - have you noticed that the upkeep on certain properties is non-existent? We need the association to address this item for all of our interests. 4) Why is the area east - northeast of the water tower without water - it's brown and a fire hazard waiting to happen 5) Speaking of Cove landscaping - the Bemis folks do a mow, blow and go job. The watering patterns in common areas are not well maintained (brown spots). Trees on the parkway have cuts in their trunks from the trimmers. Sandbags - partially torn liter the sidewalks and trails, there is always at least 1 light out per side on the bridges, the hillsides are lacking coverage, some trees /bushes are dead. Obviously, I could go on. 6) Where does this Luau money come from? I would use the money for other items like a basketball court, tennis court addition, cleanup of the San Gabriel River.
Any one else upset with more things than ZIP Codes, Thai restaurants, Supermarkets?

Just a couple quick answers for you:
1) Why do some many properties within the Cove have incomplete landscaping? Who the heck knows? Maybe they don't care for their neighbors or they are just lazy. 2 years is silly.
2) Are these folks being fined and if so, shouldn't the money be shared by the homeowners that have complied with this requirement? Wake up - this is a property value issue! They are all being fined to some degree and the fines keep getting raised. Most of them are paying, a few are in or being taken to small claims court. Some feel that it is better to pay the fines rather than pay to do and then re-do their landscaping. I don't understand them. At least do your front yard so the rest of us don't have to look at it. There was a proposal to give everyone in the community Decembers HOA dues off they talked about it at the last meeting and will talk about it again in Oct come on out and show your support.
3) Speaking of property values - have you noticed that the upkeep on certain properties is non-existent? We need the association to address this item for all of our interests. The association needs you to address the issue. The management company comes out once a week for a drive through but if something is a problem all it takes is a letter to a board member or to Lorena at Euclid management, she will send out a letter. Repeat violations result in a call to hearing, lack of response at a hearing results in fines.
4) Why is the area east - northeast of the water tower without water - it's brown and a fire hazard waiting to happen Everything inside our walkway is landscaped and watered if some area is getting missed something is broken, help us all out and again tell Lorena. A little initiative helps us all stay aware.
5) Speaking of Cove landscaping - the Bemis folks do a mow, blow and go job. So go on, however tell someone that can help; Euclid is out here every Wed and you could show them. Additionally the board meetings are the second Tuesday of every month. The current president walks the grounds once a month or so with Bemis you could walk with him and point out where we have problems. I bet they would love a new set of eyes.
6) Where does this Luau money come from? I would use the money for other items like a basketball court, tennis court addition, cleanup of the San Gabriel River. The Luau money (and the other social events) comes from our operating budget. It has been discussed and voted on twice in the HOA meetings. They get about $5,000 a year to do four events. There are homeowners that donate their own time and money too but the board supports the social committee. So far the events have been a real success. As to the basketball court et al. that is a no go. The park is an emergency landing zone for helicopters for the city and the county and we can't build a structure that would interfere with that.
On the Plus side, there are three board openings coming up at the Oct 11th meeting. I'm pretty sure two of the current members are going to run again but one slot was announced as open at the last meeting. Run for the board, we need people that are concerned with more than Thai food to help keep the rest of us in line.
