For the downtown to be successful, it will most likely need at least one major anchor, preferably more than one. Anchors are necessary to bring large numbers of people into an area. Which of the following do you think would be the most realistic and successful anchor for the downtown area (Azusa Avenue)? Please make sure to consider the land that is available including the amount of land necessary for the building and parking, and the likelihood of that type of business wanting to locate into the downtown. I hope that you get a chuckle at some of them.

I like the farmers market idea the best for several reasons, including... - Everyone needs to eat. It could be used by people of all ecomomic levels
- It could have a variety of foods and require that there is no more than one type of food in each restaurant. For example - a bakery, italian food, chinese food, mexican food, sushi, fresh fish, indian food, greek food, hamburgers, cajun food, soul food, french crepes, donuts, juice bar, oyster bar, fresh fruits, bulk foods, gourmet foods, BBQ ribs, russian food, pizza, an ice cream store, a frozen yogurt shop, mediteranean, syrian food, submarine sandwiches, fresh salads, baked potatoes, california cuisine, stir fry, burrito restaurant, etc.
- The downtown would not be dependant on any one restaurant.

A small independent theater in the dowtown sounds good to me. It would be nice to grab a bite to eat at the farmers market and then go see a movie.

I agree. A farmer's market would be nice, as would a theater. Since they are going to tear down the theaters at Azusa Commons, it would be nice to have something downtown.

This is where the chamber of commerce comes into play. They can start laying the groundwork for a farmers market. The people have spoken, now it is time for them to act.
