Last Tuesday, Metro held its San Gabriel Valley Community Meeting regarding the Draft Long Range Transportation Plan. Foothill Extension supporters, in numbers reaching over 150, filled the meeting venue leaving standing room only. Following Metro’s LRTP presentation, 30+ individuals spoke on behalf of the Foothill Extension relaying strong messages of the project’s readiness and local investment, in addition to personal perspectives on the project’s need and value. What was particularly impressive is that each city from the Foothill Extension Corridor provided testimony illustrating their united dedication to the immediate implementation of the line.
Our Next Critical Meeting:
With this critical meeting behind us, we wanted to alert you to our next and equally important opportunity to state our case with perhaps even more conviction. Please plan to join us at the April 24th Metro Board Meeting where we plan to replicate the energy and commitment expressed Tuesday night with an expanded pool of public testimony. The meeting begins at 9:30 am at the Board Conference Room at the downtown Metro Headquarters, One Gateway Plaza.
Inviting All to Speak:
The invitation to attend and speak is extended to all supporters of the Foothill Extension. This is our only opportunity within this critical Draft Long Range Transportation Plan review period to address Metro Board members directly. Please note that the time limit for public comment at Metro meetings is strictly held to one minute. If you have yet to participate in this way, please consider April 24th as the time and place to do so.
How to Get There:
Logistics regarding the morning (we anticipate public testimony and your participation will end no later than 10:30) will be forwarded early next week. However, for those of you interested, we will be arranging bus pick up at the following locations: Monrovia (Authority Headquarters), Citrus College, and University of La Verne. Busses will take you to the Sierra Madre Villa Gold Line station for transport directly to Union Station / Metro Headquarters by light rail and will be provided upon your return. All bus pick ups will be scheduled to meet the 8:20 AM Gold Line.
RSVP As Soon As Possible:
We need to know in advance:
If you will be attending
If you are willing to speak
If you are interested in using the round trip bus shuttle to the Sierra Madre Villa Metro Gold Line Station (note: more information on this will be forwarded early next week.)
Kindly respond via this email to lmanning@foothillextension.org . You may also call Linda at (626) 305-7026.
In closing, we are forwarding a front page article and follow up editorial from this week’s Pasadena Star News about the Metro Gold Line East Side/Whittier Extension that may compel you even further to attend this meeting as well as encouraging you, your colleagues and friends to send letters in response to the Draft LRTP. Our updated LRTP Response Packet is also attached for further information.
Thank you, in advance, for your time and effort to bring the Foothill Extension to the San Gabriel Valley.
