The National Wildlife Federation urges you to vote
YES on Proposition 87
NO on Proposition 90
YES on Proposition 84
Healthy fish and wildlife depend on it!
Three ballot initiatives in California that will impact you and the wildlife and the wild places of your state.
VOTE YES ON PROPOSITION 87
The first one is Proposition 87, California's "Clean Energy Initiative," which would charge Big Oil a fee for drilling in California--$4 billion of which would be put toward developing renewable energy in the state.
California is the only oil-producing state that doesn't charge significant drilling fees to oil companies. This proposal will set fees similar to those charged in Alaska, Texas and Oklahoma.
As our demand for energy continues to grow, this is a great opportunity for California to get our electricity from cleaner, cheaper renewable sources like wind and solar power--produced right here in California!
Vote YES on Proposition 87. We owe it to our children and to California's wildlife to do everything we can to stop global warming.
VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION 90
The other ballot initiative that could have a big impact on wildlife in California is Proposition 90. It claims to promote "property fairness," but instead it would open loopholes for irresponsible development in California.
If passed, Prop. 90 would roll back protections for wildlife that depend on wetlands, old growth forests and our coastlines. Prop. 90 would also jeopardize the health and well-being of our environment, since it will lead to runaway sprawl and unmanaged growth. This means more traffic, more pollution and more fragmented habitat.
The National Wildlife Federation has joined the fight against Prop. 90 because it jeopardizes our mission to protect wildlife for our children's future.
We urge you to vote NO on Proposition 90. It is a vote in favor of protecting California's wildlife heritage.
VOTE YES ON PROPOSITION 84
The last one to look for on your ballot is Proposition 84, the "Clean Water, Parks and Coastal Protection Bond."
This proposition allows California to sell $5.4 billion in general obligation bonds to provide critical funding for important water projects and parks, improving the quality of life for both people and wildlife in California.
Prop. 84 will help improve water quality and reliability, cleaning up our beaches and oceans and restoring and protecting California's natural resources and landscapes.
Vote YES on Proposition 84.
