OK people - just a little poll - does anyone else have hummingbird nests anywhere on their property in your trees?? We have two! They make the most amazing tiny eggs! Problem: one nest is right near our front door! Everytime we walked out our front door a hummingbird would fly out of there like a crazed beast! We didn't realize until a couple days later that she had made a nest in a little potted tree and was sitting on two eggs. I guess they hatch after 16-18 days. The babies are 1-inch long and have no feathers. Should be fun to watch the process!! Did we just attract these guys for some odd reason or does anyone else have them???

We have lots of hummingbirds around our front and back yards also! Haven't seen any nests though, but then I haven't really been checking. We will keep an eye out for them. They are really neat to have around though, huh?

I found one next in a rose that I moved (did not see the little nest till too late). After I moved the rose no one came back. Then I found another nest in a rose in the front along the walkway. She had two little eggs and she would come at you like a crazed beast!!! I walked around as to not bother her but you could see her in the nest sitting. All of a sudden she left. I looked in the nest and one egg was gone! The remaining egg appeared to have a crack (inward). What happened? ? I hope to have many more next year and I'm planting Hummingbrird favorites.....

The hummingbirds are the best. They are intriguing to watch.

BTW, They hatched. They have these bulgey "bug eyes" that are still closed. Cute. Even smaller than I thought.

Mine have all met with tragedy!!! We found a nest along side a lemon tree but the egg was on the ground, broken!!!! I hope as our trees mature we have better luck!!!

A hummingbird nested in my neighbor’s tree, we have quite a few flying around our house everyday, and besides the hummingbirds, are there any other animals around the neighborhood? We’ve had a rabbit and a squirrel visit our house. Haven’t seen any frogs in a while, and thank goodness, no rattle snakes, yet!
