Hi Mtn Cove dwellers, The home we have is our first home, so we don't know much about property tax.
We just got the revised tax bill of our property, it seems pretty high.
The question is: How does the city asses the value of the property? Should the value of the property equal to the sale price? Whom should we go to ask these kinda things?
We just want to be sure that the bill is accurate before we send the payment.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Neighbor, On the back of your tax bill you will find the phone number (213-974-2111) and e-mail where your questions can be answered. You may also use the website ttax.co.la.ca.us/ to get your current tax status. As well, you'll probably have to contact Standard Pacific as they may not have paid all taxes due (thus the high taxes you noted) and arrangements will need to be made with them for a refund.
