Snakes!

FYI - I was out walking last night and saw two snakes within about 5 minutes. One, was a harmless gardner snake. However, the other was a baby rattlesnake. The snake coiled and struck as if to warn us off. Is this time of year more prone to snake sightings? If anyone knows, that would be good information.
Anyway, let's enjoy our wildlife in this area, but just keep a safe watch as well.

Bill, Yes, this is snake season. Spring and Fall. Warm days, cool nights. They come to the pavement and houses looking for warmth. We've had a particular problem with them as we are right up against the hillside. I've killed seven of them. I'm not fond of doing this but we have small children. 2 in the garage, and 1 in the house, the rest in our yard. Watch out for the babies. They're more dangerous because they don't control their venom and they are less disciminating about what they stike at. We had a snake fence installed and haven't had a problem since. We see them on our walks, too. Stay in the middle of the road. Babies snakes by the road are hard to see and if you startle them, they are likely to strike.
Good Luck! Margaret

Where did you get the snake fence? I was looking to install but could not locate one. Thanks in advance for your help.
