Officer Mike Bires, is working on plans to deal with trespassing in the areas around the cove. Fri/Sat/Sun, 6a-6p, 812-3200, x3901.
Mountain Cove fire was started in Robert's Canyon. A new camp fire ring was found with 5 plastic water bottles. Firecrackers were found in and outside of the ring as well as party poppers, and a lighter. The fire ring was placed on fresh grass. 5 children were seen going into the area. 15-20 minutes later, the fire started. 5 children were also seen leaving when the fire started. 3 were girls and 2 were boys. In addition to the fire, some items were damaged or destroyed during the fire, including garden furniture, and a front door.
The police and/or fire department would like to speak to these children or anyone that may have any information relating to who these children are. Please call one of the above numbers if you have any information.
It is illegal to set fires, to smoke, or to ride (off road) motor bikes within the forest.
More rattlesnakes have been found since the fire. One of them went over a "snake fence". So please do NOT assume that because you have a "snake fence" that you will not get snakes in your backyard. They mostly come out during the early morning and late in the day. The rattlesnakes in this area have a diamond shaped head.
